Super Bowl LVII Recap
In one of the more exciting super bowls to be played, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes won his second Super Bowl MVP award by leading the Kansas City Chiefs to a 38-35 win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 57. The two-time Most Valuable Player completed 21 of his 27 passes for 182 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran for 44 yards on six carries.
Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and wide receiver DeVonta Smith had strong performances for the Eagles as well, but they did not receive enough support from their teammates on defense. Philadelphia could not record one sack in the entire game which turned out to be the difference that led to a Kansas City victory. Hurts completed 27 of his 38 pass attempts for 304 yards and one touchdown. Hurts also ran for 70 yards, which led all rushers.
Kansas City scored two late touchdowns in the fourth quarter while trailing the Eagles most of the game. Two of Mahomes’ three passing touchdowns occurred in the fourth quarter. The Chiefs also had two third downs of six yards or longer in the second half. Both of those plays came on their final offensive drive. Mahomes was able to use his speed to complete a 26-yard run to help set up Harrison Butker’s game-winning field goal.

Hi! My name is Lexi Torres, and this is my first year being part of Ka Mō’ī’. I am a senior and I got into Kamehameha when I was in the 7th grade. I found a love for writing in my sophomore year of high school during quarantine. It was a good way for me to express myself and write down all the thoughts I had during such tough times. After high school, I hope to go to college on the east coast and major in communication disorders. I think Ka Mō’ī is a good place for me to start learning about communications and how I can use these skills in the future. I look forward to providing my peers with important news stories and keeping them well-informed throughout the school year!
